Hello. I use Excel 2010 and 2013 depending on the location. I just started to use GoogleDrive since you get the most gigabytes free basically. I was just wondering what happens to an Excel spread sheet if you alter it with Google Sheets on line. I noticed that you can change your data with Google Sheets.
Moving an Excel spreadsheet as a file to any of the cloud services is a good idea depending on what you need to do.
Converting an Excel spreadsheet to a Google Doc is a bad idea. Google docs, to put it mildly is brain damaged. You will lose almost all of your functionality. Google docs barely remembers simple formulas and is basically an Excel spreadsheet with data-only in it.
Better still would be the on-line, free apps from Microsoft. Once again, they are not the fully-featured products, but they do most things most people need them to do.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
