I'm trying to do just a simple time elapse between two times =SUM(H3-G3) in time format, and the answer I'm getting is the correct minute length but adds 12 hours on too? I have tried doing =SUM((H3-G3)-12) but that hasn't worked, can anyone help?excel time difference.jpg
Change the custom formatting of your result cell to hh:mm:ss without the AM/PM bit.

Let me make a comment on it
I shall confess that for me it was some time ago puzzling that 12:52 AM is just 52 minutes after midnight (in my simple logic it shall be 00:52 AM, but somehow in UK it is not written like that).
So indeed just 24h formatting as suggested by AliGW: "hh:mm:ss" will do the job.
And note for the possible future applications (or for instance for adding up such times, etc) if it is possible that a value will be greater than 24 hours, use:
"[hh]:mm:ss" format

As for the formula, you probably can use justFormula:
