Problem with accounting data analysis (data comparison)

Hello everyone,

I would be really greatful for some help with my data analysis in Excel. I was thinking about solving this problem using formulas at first (vlookup, index etc.), but maybe writing a code in VBA seems more reasonable. I’m open to your suggestions.

In the attached workbook I present you my fictional, raw data and the sample sheets with expected results (preferably „Sample result1“ sheet).

What I need to do in my analysis is to check if costs (accounts starting with 40…) are equal to expenditures (accounts starting with 130) in terms of:

• Account classification ("…-75011-4300" in both corresponding records mean they match)
• Sum (Dt and Ct)
• Code 1 and Code2

Accounts starting with other symbols i.e. 241 should be ignored.
It would also be cool to add some cell formatting if the results don’t match (like cell J3 in „Sample result1“ sheet).

I’m not sure but the only way to compare this data seems to be a document symbol in column B („Data“ sheet).

I hope that maybe the solution is simpler than I think. If my thread suits to another sub-forum more, please feel free to move it.
