Clicking hyperlink often fails

When I click hyperlinks like xyz.gpx, 90% of the time it fails to open in the associated program (GPS Utility). A pop-up message flashes up. Far too quickly to read, so I took a video and found the frame showing this:

On the remaining rare occasions, it flashes that up but does then open the file.

are the target files all in a "trusted location" on your PC? If not, make sure that they are... No idea if this is correct, but it's worth a shot!!
