    Setting to identify users?

Is there a setting that will identify which member on my team has a specific excel file open? My team uses a shared workbook for tracking workload. If someone has the file open on their machine and another member attempts to open it, you get the error stating "in use by another user" with options to open a read only copy. This file is located on a server and all users have designated machines. Is there an option in Excel that will identify who the "other user" is???

So far, my IT guy say he can log onto the server and figure it out but offered no other options.

You could try to personalize their copies of Microsoft Office.
