Sort folder of excel documents by date

Excel default is Alpha/Numeric for file listings in the Project Explorer. However, if you want to change the order, open the project explorer to that directory and click on the up or down arrows (^) (v) above the file names and dates last modified to rearrange the sequences in which they are listed.

I want to just rearrange them in the folder they're in, I don't need to access them from another excel sheet (guess it's more of a windows question than an excel question). I've modified them out of order as well so only the name of the file can be used to sort them.

I don't know how you are using the files, if you are using the files or if you just want to be able to view the files in a certain order, but the File Explorer (my error in the previous post where i said porject explorer) is a Windows feature that allows you to view Applications, directories and folder content So if you only wanted to view the files in a certain order, then that is probably the easiest and quickest way to do it. I have a shortcut icon on my status bar but you can access the feature by clicking the windows start icon and then locate and expand 'Windows System'.
But you seem to have resolved the issue by other means.
