>Select the cells you want to lock.
>On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, click the small arrow to open the Format Cells popup window.
>On the Protection tab, select the Locked check box, and then click OK to close the popup.
NOTE: If you try these steps on a workbook or worksheet you haven't protected, you'll see the cells are already locked. This means that the cells are ready to be locked when you protect the workbook or worksheet.
>On the Review tab in the ribbon, in the Changes group, select either Protect Sheet or Protect Workbook, and then reapply protection.

Hi atul I tried this but it locks entire sheet. here i attach my work book. the green coloured columns i need to lock
thank you for response
File attach. plz check. green selected cell lock
Excel protection/locking works in reverse. All cells are locked by default, the lock is activated when you Protect the sheet.
So what you need to do is Unprotect the cells you need to have available. Then when you protect the sheet, only those will be usable.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

What did you mean in the opening post about this being a cross-post? Have you asked the same question on another forum? If so, you must provide a link to it here.
