Decimal point issue in using duodecimal scale

    Hello.

    I have a list that goes 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11, 1.12
then 2.1, 2.2 and so on right up to 4.12.

The trouble is that every time I get to 1.10, 2.10, 3.10, 4.10 it shows it as 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1. Then if I set the cells to two decimal places all the other numbers apear as 1.10, 1.20, 1.30..... and so on.

These values are set via data validation and do not have a specific location on the sheet. As such I cannot just set some particular cells to one decimal place and the others to two decimal places.

I have attached a file so you can see the problem in its situation but please be aware that these (stagebox/patch values will seldom be in series when the final product is done.

    Kind Regards

In your data tab change column J to TEXT format. Then retype the 1.10, 2.10, etc.
Now when you select the stagebox it will show the ending 0 for those cells.

You will need to reselect the 3.10 2.10 and 1.10 etc on your working tabs for it to refresh.

Why not simply use 1.01 1.02 etc, instead?

Thanks for your replies. Purely for the sake of personal preference in this instance and the fact no calculations will be done on these numbers ill go for the Text format for simplicity.

Regards and thankyou for the swiftness

For number, their is no different between 1.1 or 1.10 as these are the same 1.1 value
Number format in data sheet is just for display.

You need to force them to text by type '1.1 , '1.10 or 1.1. , 1.10.
