I have a very large Excel file with hundreds of VBA macros and 50 or so forms. After working fine for many years it has gradually in the past year (since moving to Excel 2016 64 bit) become unstable. I am strict about backing up my Excel files but the backups have become unrepairable as well even though they saved ok from a decent version. The crashes happen in various circumstances e.g. clicking on a button, clicking in the VBA editor on a particular form, encountering an error when running the program, it's just neither reproducible nor predictable. It seems I will now have to revert to a version 3 weeks old and re-enter all the changes - yuk. Has anyone any suggestions about the cause and repair? The Excel attempts to repair are obviously useless and lead you down the garden path, hoping in vain.
