    Changing X axis ticks label

    Hello,
I've a simple task progress table: status (NA, start, ongoing, completed) vs. person's name.
I try to plot it on a bar chart, so that each status will appear in a different color (red, orange, light green, dark green) and the X labels would be the status words but I can't understand how it is done.

The conditional formatting of the bars I achieve with the technique from Peltier Tech Blog "Conditional Formatting of Excel Charts", but I can't manage to substitute the numbers in X axis by the verbal statuses.

    The example sheet is attached.

    I'll appreciate your help!

    Welcome to the forum.

Can you show us what you want to achieve? Manually mock this up in your workbook.

You can use a dummy series, plotted as xy-scatter, to plot points along the horizontal axis.
The use data labels, linked to cells, to display the descriptions of values , 0, 1, 2 and 3.
Remove the actual horizontal axis labels.

Re: Changing X axis ticks label

Andy, thank you for your reply. That's exactly what I've been looking for!

I'll add that how to combine different chart types in one plot is described in Peltier Tech Blog, "For Bar-Line (XY) Combination Chart in Excel" thread.

P.S. Ali, thanks for the welcome words
