was wondering if you could kindly help me.
im trying to find a formula that counts "x" in cells based on words in another column.
example.
Column A1 Column A2
aaaaa x
aaaaa x
bbbbb x
bbbbb x
cccccc x
cccccc x
aaaaa x
aaaaa x
so example with aaaaa = 4
can someone please help. Dire straits here.

countifs(A1:a8,"aaaaa", B1:B8,"x")
But i suspect it maybe more complicated
please would you provide a sample spreadsheet with some expected results entered - see yellow banner
Are you still using excel version 2013

A Pivot Table would give you more flexibility.
