excel considering date as month and month as date

Hi,

I have date in 2021-09-03, which means it is 3rd of Sept 2021, however when I am trying to change it to DD-MM-YYYY format it is considering it as 09-03-2021 (9th of March 2021), but for 2022-06-17 it is showing correctly as 17-06-2022

How can i fix it either with formula or vba code..?

have the dates been imported from somewhere into the spreadsheet

change the format of the date to general

The number for 3rd sept 21 is 44442
the number for the 9th Mar 21 is 44264

if it does not change to a number and stays as the date - then it is text

is this the only date with a problem or just an example of many issues
