Name manager can't edit scope range

Does anyone know how do we edit the scope range in one of the name manager. I've already unprotected the file and also make sure my advance option for object is showing all object. Am i only left with 1 option which is to use the table design and convert to range?

No idea... unless we can SEE what you're talking about.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 non-editable pictures.

Please read the yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen. Act on its guidelines and post a SMALL sample sheet complete with an explanation and some expected results.

If you are talking about the reference to a Structured Table in Name Manager, no you can't change the scope.

You can, in Table Design, resize the Table. Is that what you need to do?

Yes, you are right. I can only change resize the table which i suppose is the "refers to" parts in the photo.

If i can't edit the scope, i'm only left with the option which is to change it to range? Is there a way for me to check and see where it points to? By dragging that data field, its looks very long.

As you have redacted the image, I can't comment.

What are you trying to achieve?

Re: Name manager can't edit scope range

This file was created by someone who left long long ago. I just got the file from the last person and i need to know what those extra/uncommon feature is used for.

I need to know the details of what that Table 5 is used for before i can create new ones or delete this. I'm suspecting it's used for pivot table or chart. It's hard doing reverse check so it would be good if i know more or what is it used for by finding out the data/information and work on it =(.

If i can edit that table, i'm able to find out the value and figure out my next action.

Re: Name manager can't edit scope range

I may be mistaken but, if you are talking about Workbook/Worksheet scope, I don't think that can be changed once the object has been created.

That said, the information you have redacted out tells you which sheet the Table is on and the Range it occupies. For example,Sheet2!$A$2:$D$15.

What the Table is used for is anyone's guess. You will need to share more information, including a sample workbook, for that.

Re: Name manager can't edit scope range

If you are trying to change the scope of the name from Workbook to Sheet1 (or some other specific sheet), you can't use edit for that.
Only in the New Name dialog can you specify if the name is scoped to the Workbook or single sheet level.
Create a New Name with the desired scope. (It will allow same names with different scopes) and then delete the original name with the unwanted scope is the only way to edit the scope of a name.
