    How to convert date to number when you chose text

    Hallo /All
    i just want to represent the date as date when i chose date and convert it to number when i chose the text format but my date represent date even in general format and text as shown in thees images the second example is what i want but i don't know how 2.jpg1.jpg

    Dates in Excel are stored as serial numbers, so it's not as simple as changing file formats. If a date is stored in date format, to get it to text, you need to use the TEXT function. If the date is stored in text format and you need the date format, there are a series of functions that will accomplish this for you.     As described above, a date just a number representing how many days have passed since 1/1/1900. So today (10/5/13) is 41552. Excel deals with time as a fraction/decimal of 1 (1 day). You need to 1st test your data to see if it is numeric or text - use -isnumber(cell-ref) a FALSE answer indicates you are dealing with a text "date"

    oki I got what you mean , but i have used A function Today and the date was stored as number 40091 hee stor/6/2013 and in anther sheet the day is 6/10/2013 but stored as 41553 why the two numbers in different 1-1.jpg1-2.jpg
