when I used 2003 I used =citems(a1) to count how many numbers were entered into cell A1 (ie 15+15+15) would read (3), now when I type it into a cell in 2007 it just says NAME? . any ideas?.
Thanks in advance,Barry.

=citems(a1) is not a native function to excel it must have been a user defined function

It was built by some one else, so how can I get it to work in the one I'm attempting to build.
since it was available to all workbooks it may have been an add in have a look in excel options/advanced add ins see if there is something in there that refers to it
Ok I'll do that, Thanks.
Open an old workbook in which the function works. In the Names box, left of the formula bar, type the function name and press Enter. That will take you to the code.

Yes found it thamk you very much. Barry.
Ok I got too cocky there, I've found the code, but how do I put it into the new sheet (excel 2007), Barry.
Copy the code, go to the new file, do Alt+F11 to open the VBE, Insert > Module, paste.
Thank you, it is working now much appreciated. Barry.
