    Edit Drop Down Menu List

I'm using Excel 2007. In cell B3 there is a drop down menu with several items listed in it. I'd like to delete a couple of items in that list. How would I do that?

An Internet search turned up only vague answers about going to Data -> Data Validation -> Data Validation -> Settings and do something in "Source", but it wasn't clear as to what. The "Source" section has =L2:L12 in it. I don't know what this is. I do not have a column "L" and nothing in the "2" row.

    Thanks in advance.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to make it clear what is needed. Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

There's no sensitive information on it. It's just a monthly expense tracking sheet.

Re: Edit Drop Down Menu List

Your Data Validation is based on a list. That list may be IN the DV menu, or it may be referenced from within the DV menu.

The "Source" section has =L2:L12 in it.
this tells me that the range is being referenced. Look at the column heading letters and look for the L column. If it isnt visible, it is probably hidden - highlight the columns either side of where it should be, right-click and click Unhide. Then look for the data in the range L2:L12. You can then delete what you dont want, and move the rest up, and then adjust the range accordingly
