Hi Excel Forum,
The value of the last cell in the attached looks like this:
$0.00
But I wanted to make it look like:
$ 0.0
I have been trying to keep spaces between $ and 0.0 but unsuccessful.
Could anyone help me.
Thanks

Select the cells you want to apply formatting, hit Ctrl + F1, under Number tab > Custom , enter
$ #,##0.0;($ #,##0.0)

Hi Peterrc,
Thanks.
However, it is difficult to understand what is the alternative method you have suggested just by looking at what you have attahced.
If possible, please elaborate how you have done it.
Thanks

Hi Mirisage,
Sorry for the late reply - I didn't receive an e-mail notification of your reply.
All I have done is put the cursor between the $ and the 0.00 (in the Type and press enter twice (for 2 spaces) to achiece $ 0.00.
Please see attached.

Hi Mirisage,
OOPS!
I pressed the space bar twice NOT enter twice.
(Incidentally, I have no idea how the "smiley" got there.

Hi peterrc,
Apologies for the belated reply.
Thank you for your inputs.

With Windows Seven you can also go to the Control Panel and check the format of currency in tab "Country and Language" / "Additional Settings" and choose to have a space between simbol and first digit. Excel will follow.
