Find data in same position in 2 cells.

Hi,

I have a spreadsheet that shows skills of different people. What I would like to do is to search for the skill 'PST' and return the date that is in the same position. For example, in B2 PST is the second skill, so I would like to return the second date. Normally I would have a go myself but I don't even know where to start here.

Attach a sample spreadsheet with expected results, remove any sensitive data, create a mockup example if necessary.
Use the Go Advanced option at the bottom of the page then scroll down to Manage Attachments as the "paperclip" method does not work on this forum.

It would help if you attached a sample Excel workbook, so we can see how your data is laid out and what you want to achieve might be a bit clearer.

To do this, click on Go Advanced (below the Edit Window) while you are composing a reply, then scroll down to and click on Manage Attachments and the Upload window will open. Click on Browse and navigate to (and double-click) the file icon that you want to attach, then click on Upload and then on Close this Window to return to the Edit window. When you have finished composing your post, click on Submit Post.

Note that the Paperclip icon does not work.

Can anyone help with this? Even if someone points me in the right direction I am happy to try the code myself. I feel like I need to count the amount of commas before I find the word PST and then use that to count commas to find the matching date. No idea how to do this.

Hi DannyJ,

Give this a try.... I have added a check that makes sure that your data in column b has enough dates to match the position of PST in column B, just in case... this should avoid errors if the situation happens that there are 2 dates, but somehow PST is position 4.... It may not be needed if the data always lines up, but this way you avoid errors.
