    V. Simple Macro has slowed down with Excel 2016

    Hi Everyone,

I'm not much of a VBA user, but have a number of very simple macros that I use heavily on a few occasions through the year. I've just updated to Excel 2016 and suddenly they are going much more slowly. It might not seem like a long time difference from almost instantaneously to 1-2 seconds but when you have to do a few thousand in a day it quickly adds up.

Any ideas what's wrong? Is there a simpler/quicker way to do what I'm doing (which is just concatenating a few different text fields)

    Thanks in anticipation

Although you are using selects for the entire code, the code itself would not be the reason for the delay. xl'16 takes a lot of resources and if you have a ton of formulas, it is going to slowdown the workbook.

You can also change the formulas into values, then you wouldn't have so many formulas.

Don't know if it'll be any quicker but you can get rid of all the Select/Selection stuff.

I've had a chance to test these now. On a fragment of the data both work extremely well.

However, when I go back onto the original spreadsheet (which is actually considerably smaller on this occasion than the one on which I used to use these macros) whilst they are both quicker than my own, they are both very slow compared to how things ran on Excel 2010.

Is there something else I should turn off to get things running again at a decent speed?

You could try turning off screen updating, disabling events and setting calculation to manual.
