Question excel button that allows data input (not from a list)

I use form controls and active x buttons with drop down lists often, in order to make a selection on one sheet carry over to another sheet because its important to have multiple tabs be allowed to be the master source for the input. ie no matter which tab i change the selection of drop down list on, the selection carries over to all tabs. This is a better choice for my use case than simply linking cells because under that construct i would need to return to the tab with the input on it and ensure each other tab is linked correctly if i change a selection on the non-master tab.

I am looking to do the same concept but with a button or form that can handle a continuous set of numeric inputs (ie 6.0, 6.1, 6.11, 7.0, 20, etc) rather than long list of pre-loaded drop down selections. can anyone help me with this?

    Hi and welcome.

I understand the first bit of your post, i.e. having a dropdown on each sheet and regardless of which sheet that will affect all sheets regardless of which one you change it on. What I don't understand is this part:

If you don't want the list of numbers "pre-loaded" to the dropdown, where should the list come from? Do you mean you want a TextBox that allows frree text?

I think it would be helpful if you could attach a sample workbook and give some more information on exactly what the ask is here.

hi, thanks for your response. yes a free text box would be great, what i am struggling with his how to do something like that but that still functions the same way as the drop down lists (ie if you input the text on one page it will carry over to the other). i have attached a simplified example of what i am doing. please let me know if you need anything else. thanks again!
