    Help with a rota

    Hi
I've been told that its virtually impossible for me to create a rota that I need. It has so many staff in it, about 15, who do certain duties rotated, some of those duties are one week long, others are rotated daily. Others require two people to do a duty once a week. Please tell me it's possible to do and help me create it!

    Re: Help with a rota

It's definitely possible. It's not too complicated if only one person who is very knowledgeable about excel has to use it in an unprotected state. However, if it needs to be used by multiple users at once, and/or frequently edited potentially by someone who is not very familiar with excel, it becomes much more challenging. It's even more challenging if you need to have multiple versions created for multiple schedulers to be able to work on their portion at the same time, and have all of them combine into a single output source for general viewing by staff members. I built something like this for work, and after much pulling of teeth, it works great... I would recommend a weekly schedule, 1 week per tab, with alternating rows of duties and start & end times per each day of the week with a single column of employee names (duplicated as many times as necessary for the potential of split duties in a single day) with each week created by creating a copy of a template worksheet and automatically naming it with the appropriate next date range through VBA.
