Conditional formatting differente range with formula

Hello everyone, I m Looking for some help for a conditional formatting in Google sheet,

the sheet is divided in column from F to R, we have to write the number of item that we sell every month.
all the item are dived by category by a gray ROW,
the conditional formatting that I m looking need to highlight in green the higher sales, red the lower, yellow the middle sales, and the formatting need to highlight the value for every single category( example category 1 is from f3:f17, category 2 is from f19:29 etc.....) month by month
I try to copy the conditional formatting but the formula will not update and i have to update manually, is there any dynamic formula that can be used?

i do apologies in advance if I m Not totally clear and I will really appreciate is someone can help

    in attached the file

    thank you in advance

Re: Conditional formatting differente range with formula

    Hi Stefano,

Using your existing structure will require a separate formula for each section.

I recommend that you use a standard table structure. This will require to add a new column A for the category of each item.

Your data will then have a category and sub-category.

This will allow you to create a single rule for the entire dataset.

    Hi janmorris

so the formula that you propose me it work perfectly, just to understand a bit better the arrayformula is looking for the subcategory name,in the column B, once he define where all the item of the same sub category are , it proceed to look for the lower or higher or second value of the sub category, am I correct ?
