Unable to delete unwanted attached assets

    Hello all

I am having trouble delete unwanted attachments, for example if I attach two images but I want to use one of the image, and I delete the other one, I get this pop up asking "Are you sure that you wish to delete these assets?" To which I click OK.

Then nothing happens, the unwanted attachment is still both the Manage Attachments Window and in the thread post, I can not seem to find a method to get rid of unwanted attachments, which is why my posts in this thread have unwanted attachments.

I am not sure how you are getting to the screen shown in your post here. If I go to your linked post, click Edit Post, and scroll down to the "Manage Attachments" link, I get the following page, which allows me to selectively delete image attachments.

    manage attachments.jpg

You should also delete the corresponding references in your post that look like this:

    Hi Jeff,

Okay I found out how, in Attachment Management window,

I must untick the blue tick below the attachment I want to delete first before click the red cross to get the prompt, click okay to delete the attachment.

Re: Unable to delete unwanted attached assets

I checked the "Don't allow excelforum.com to prompt you again", now I can not delete any attachment again whether I check or uncheck the blue tick, nothing happens after I click on the red cross.

How can I the prompt back so I can actually delete attachment again?

Also the Insert Image button does not even have upload button after I browse to a picture, and attaching via external image hosting is disabled for me because "I need to post more", which means I have forced to Attachments button, which itself is buggy and only found under in Advanced mode.

Man the picture upload function of this forum is so frustrating to use, the method and UI are like from 1990s, all other forums allows me to copy and paste directly (eg Power BI community forum) or attach using imgur (reddit)

I don't use the attachment interface you are using, so I'm not familiar with it. I use the one shown in my screen shots.

I agree about the image attachments. I also use reddit and MrExcel and images are so much easier. The people who run this forum have been assuring for months--no, years--that an upgrade is in the works but no news on what's going on. I'm unclear on your statement, though. You have selected a file and the Upload button is shown right there in your screen shot. By "attaching via external image hosting" do you mean providing a URL? I haven't used that in a while, and have never gotten a "need to post more" message. I have a non-admin sock account I could try it with if you tell me the exact steps you took.

Re: Unable to delete unwanted attached assets

oh #### that "upload file(s)" text is actually a button???

OMG that is like the most unbutton-like button ever. I thought it was just a text, especially given how big the rest of the window is and that text looking thing is a button.

Whoever designed this UI needs to go.

All of the admins and moderators have been urging these kinds of changes for years and we have no leverage.
