    Calculating card odds

Hello friends, I am trying to calculate basic card draw probability similar to poker. I know there are users who are interested and I expect a little help.

Suppose that there are 52 cards in a standard deck (4 suits). And there will be 3 cards dealt to each player.

I need to calculate the possibility of AKQsuited to be dealt to me.

So there are 52*51*50 = 132600 possible combinations.

There are 4 Aces, 4 Kings and 4 Queens in a deck, but I need suited. So I calculate like this:

first slot can receive 12 possible cards (does not matter which one)
second slot can receive 1 possible card (because we already have particular card)
third slot can receive 1 possible card

    so we have 12 * 1 * 1 / 132600 = 12/132600

    Is my logic correct?

    Re: Calculating card odds

There are 2 possible second cards. So it's 24/132600 (if you already have the ace, your second card can be the king or the queen).

Alternatively, possible combinations that meet your requirements:
    AKQ
    AQK
    KAQ
    KQA
    QKA
    QAK
    x 4 suits.

    Re: Calculating card odds

From a slightly different perspective, there are =combin(52, 3) = 22,100 three-card combinations from a standard deck, and four of interest; so 4/22,100.

EDIT: Welcome to the board, jmhuk
