Attempting to reformat layout of excel sheet

    Hi,

I have a dataset which details levels of chemicals at different levels in the ocean. It is currently formatted so that each research mission has a row, and each column is a depth level (see attached sheet).

I want to try and change the sheet from showing every depth, to just the surface level (0m depth) and whatever each row's maximum depth would be.

In the final sheet I would like the following headers:
    - ISO_country
    - Cruise_ID
    - Latitude
    - Longitude
    - Year
    - Month
    - Day
    - Time
    - WOD_unique
    - Surface level figure, (if no 0m value, this would be left blank)
    - Bottom data depth (the depth at which the deepest reading has been taken)
    - The value at this max depth

So the only thing I am struggling to get to work is the maximum depth bit. I have to do this to a number of sheets all showing different values but the same principle should work across them all, and I am sure there must be a simple solution!

I have attached one of these sheets for you to see what I mean,

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your response.

That is the first half of my problem, in providing the 0m depth data, but what i also need for each row is the depth of the deepest reading, and the value of the deepest reading, which is, of course, different in each row.

Here is an example of what i want, using the first row in the original file (see attached).

    Thanks again.

These parameters are to be given for each "WOD_unique"?

That is correct yes. The issue is, that not every 'WOD Unique' has their deepest reading at the same depth.

Re: Attempting to reformat layout of excel sheet

That is essentially what I am after, however many of the values are much larger than in the original .csv file, e.g. Being 24206, instead of 2.4206.

Also, this isn't the only workbook I have to do this process with, I have got to do this many times, could you tell me how you did this so I can replicate the process on other datasets?

    Thanks

I'm glad we got to the finale. The entire task was done in Power Query. I see that you are using MS 2016, so you have this add-on for your option. Go to the "Data" tab and edit the PQ query to see how it is done. All process steps are shown on the right side of the screen. As for the values I replaced the dots with "" to have valid values for my region (you can delete this step).
