need to break down dollar amounts to 100's, 20's, 10's and 5's.....HELP?

Retired and have new part time position...need to break down petty cash for weekly cash payout. ....example, 80 folks get petty cash...anywhere from 100 to 1000 to each...need to determine dollar denominations to give to runner to get exact denominations from bank..... example...

    employee....total....100's...20's...10's...5.....1's

    John Dow...$350.....3........2.........1.....0.....0
    Mary Doe....$128....1........1.........0.....1.....3
    ------------------------------------------------------
    total....100's...20's...10's...5.....1's
    Petty CASH
    TOTALS......$478.....4.......3..........1.....1....3

I could have more than $15,000 to hand out weekly and I need exact denominations to stuff into envelopes at the end of the week with none left over at the office, so it needs to be easy for the runner to get exact denominations and follow the list on how many of each denominations go into envelopes.

Whew...hope that explains it....need some sort of spreadsheet formula. The previous young man used one but left with the spreadsheet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you so much!

    Jose

    Here's one way.

    First denomination:

    =INT($A3/B$2) copied down

    Subsequent denominations:

    =INT(($A3-SUMPRODUCT($B$2:B$2,$B3:B3))/C$2) copied across and down

    Hi,

This will take a series of formula's.

Attached is an example using the data you provided.

Hope it makes sense and works for you.

    Cheers

    Welcome to the forum.

Here's another way, assuming total amounts are in column B:

If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.

    Sorry for off-topic interjection:

Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless file to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

I'm sure you understand, and we look forward to seeing you post your formulae/macros in your posts for the searching benefit of all.

Thanks again for all your hard work here!

    @Jose

Glad we could be of help.

If that takes care of your original question, please take a moment to mark this thread as Solved so others know there's an answer here (instructions for doing this are in my signature). Thanks.

You're welcome and thanks for the Rep. Retired isn't something you need "apologise" for. It's soooo liberating (now a self-employed part-timer and full-time grumpy old sod).
