Too few columns in workbook created in old version of Excel!

I have a massive workbook that contains many tabs and macros. The workbook was created in an older version of Excel and has been duplicated each year for the new year to the point where it is now used in Excel 2007; however, I am still very limited to the number of columns I get, way too few! The workbook is not in capatibilty mode and was saved as an .xlsm file.
I am not given the option to Convert the workbook.
Any ideas on how I can get the additonal columns and rows that go with the Excel 2007 version?

    Hi,

Stating the obvious I suppose, but have you tried asking someone who does have Excel 2007 or greater to extract subsets of the data onto separate sheets and which don't go past column IV (256) and then save the file which you could then open?

That's all I can think of.

I have Excel 2007 and I'm assuming is what you're referring to is the old cut & paste method?

    Hi,

Yes, cut and paste would work, but if there's some consistency with the data layout a small macro could do it for you.
As a minimum a variable to identify the number of columns divided by say 100 which could be used as a loop counter, and the loop would progressively select sets of ranges, add a new sheet and cut and paste.
