Excel's table Object vs normal data range

    Hi guys,

I need some advise. I need to decide whether to rewrite my code to make use of a table (ListObject), or not.

What are the real benefits for using excel's table object (ListObject) for a VBA UserForm project? Is it better than using a normal rage or sheet? And if so, why?

    This is my setup:

I make use of a UserForm as interface for capturing data records, saving the data to an excel sheet.

I.e., it is like an application, with the excel sheet as my database.

    Thanks for your expert advise!

From my point of view, if you are comfortable in working with Table then go for it.

Because using formulas with table is not the same like normal cell formulas.

In table formula @ refers to current row and you can use column headers to refer it to the specific column.

Using formula's with table will get auto adjusted but range reference won't do that...

Inserting a formula in a (table) cell (if below cells are empty) will apply it to the whole column, so you need not to worry about missing formulas.

Table will create defined names automatically for your columns and whole table so reading the formula will be much easier because it uses the column headers as reference.

Changing the appearance of the table is easy because you will have predefined table layouts in excel which can be applied by single click

Passing the formula to a closed workbook table won't work and throws errors like Indirect Function. The Source workbook should be kept open if your formula refers to a table workbook.

    hi Sixthsense

    Thanks for your input.

How does having a table affect my actual VBA code:
    1. does it make coding more complicated?
    2. are resources and help readily available?
