lock/unlock specific cell in a password protected sheet

    Hi,
I just introduced myself as a new member; here's my problem -

Our club uses an Excel accounts workbook with a dozend sheets. Created with MS Excel 2011 for Mac, ver 14.6.0.
    All sheets are password protected.
Sheet 1 allows the User to enter names, addresses etc into the relevant cells.
Other sheets are for different months, with unlocked cells to accept numbers.

I want the user to click on a couple of macros, to 'lock' the cells in sheet 1 or unlock them, without having the password to unprotect the sheet (and mess it up).

Excel 2011 no longer has the function "Allow Users to Edit Ranges".
    How can I solve this?
    Opi

If i have what you mean right.
You have to unblock the range/cells you want others to be able to edit.
Unprotect the sheet. Click on the range or Cells you don't want protected and format cell. Click on unblock.
Protect sheet again and you can edit the rang or cells you unblocked.

Re: lock/unlock specific cell in a password protected sheet

Sorry dzoomz65, your answer does not cover it, unfortunately.

Because Excel 2011 no longer has the function "Allow Users to Edit Ranges", I need a different way (with macros?), to do the following:

Our annual Excel accounts program is sent to several different club locations, to the local 'Accountant'.
In January he fills out Sheet-1, were the cells are for the names and addresses of the members.
During the rest of the year, until 31. December, he enters receipts and outgoing moneys into Sheet-2 and Sheet-3.
Sheet-4 shows the 'Profit & Loss' Statement.

All sheets are password protected, so that nothing can be altered or damaged.
Cells in Sheet-2 and Sheet-3 where data is being entered, are unprotected.

The problem is with Sheet-1, where entry cells are used mainly in January, thereafter only if a member leaves or a new member is added.
I would like to enable the 'Accountants' to lock those cells when they are finished in January, but to be able to unlock and change an entry later in the year, and then lock the cell again.
This is to avoid accidental changes.
And to do this while the main password of the Workbook is unknown to them.

I hope this make the problem clearer.
    Thanks,
    Opi
