It has never worked very well - we always recommend that members use Google instead.

yeah but google doesn't give the params that the forum has Ali. google would only search for thread titles and possibly MANY keywords. it certainly wouldn't give the result I wanted with what I put in in this example. that's not enough to search on.
It is what it is - and there's zero chance of it improving, since the tech team are not about to upgrade the software. Sorry, but you'll have to work with it or round it.
well that's fine. but it leaves a ?. why not upgrade? does it cost too much? does it cost anything?
Not going there - it's an issue we grappled with some time ago, and grappled hard, but the owner isn't interested. It's completely out of our hands, so there's no point even discussing it. Sorry. You can mark this as solved because there's nothing more that can be said on it.
