Hi,

Thanks,
I found this similar websites, but I am trying to do the following:
- Have dropdown list for different cities
- Under each city is a list of monthly averages (cloud cover)
- The averages are used in a spreadsheet to calculate certain information
e.g.
Dropdown list:
- Pretoria, Johannesburg, Polokwane
Under the data for those cities:
Pretoria Johannesburg Polokwane
3 4 5
7 8 9
11 22 33
When I select Pretoria I want to be able to calculate the average for the numbers under Pretoria ? Thanks for the help so far.
Sorry,
I actually need it to populate the data into a certain column (just below the dropdown list) so that I can use the data in a rather complex calculation procedure, it is not a easy formula that I can just enter.
Hi Booswig,
Refer to the attachment.
Sorry,
I actually need it to populate the data into a certain column (just below the dropdown list - copy the data in that list and paste it in the underlying column replacing the data that is there) so that I can use the data in a rather complex calculation procedure, it is not a easy formula that I can just enter.
Thanks adhawan06
But when I select the town it does not automatically calculates the average.
Hey Booswig,
Please confirm, whether you wanted to have a list of avg against particular city or you just wanted to have avg. of that?
I am trying to develop an application that can calculate the average annual solar irradiance that can reach ground level for certain areas. This is to calculate potential PV electricity that can be generated in a certain area. The calculation part is rather easy (using Excel), but the reference to data kept somewhere is a problem to me. I initially though of using Excel as I know nothing of databases or Access.
In short I need to create a database for various areas (Cities, suburbs, towns etc) containing data such as average monthly rainfall, cloud cover, irradiance, temperature etc. Alternatively I can do that database in Access (I think that with the help of the net that would be quite easy). Then I can use Excel to reference that data ... how I do not know.
I would prefer to use Excel as I know it very well. How to select a city in Excel (dropdown list ?) and allow it to select the correct data from the database however is a problem that I am trying to solve.
Alternatively I should perhaps use Access, but I have been scared of Access since ... actually forever. I assume that one can do some calculations in a simple spreadsheet-like form in Access. I would prefer not to do anything, or the minimal using any VB.
