    Chart colour based on cell text

    Hi,

    I have an thermometer chart and at the moment it is colour red. On my spread sheet I have a RAG status - Red/Amber/Green

    Is there anyway in which I can colour the lines based on a cell (if it contains "Red", "Yellow" or "Green")?

    e.g. on the attached the surrounding bars are black - I would like this red, yellow or green.

    You can do this with helper columns. This example is covered in this site: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/. It can also be done with VB.
    One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

    A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

    Thanks will take a look!

    Does anyone have a working example of something similar they could share? Ideally I would like it without VBA as I am unsure how to edit code.
